The gross value of a program or format to listeners is the amount of money it generates from listener support.The table below shows the gross value of programming to listeners in fiscal year 1997 (October 1996-September 1997).
Listeners gave public stations $140 million at last count. NPR news and local classical music programming generated the bulk of this direct listener support.
